As part of a semester long project, I was asked to undertake a series of motion design experiments to test my skills as a motion designer. With less than a week for each motion design experiment, I had to design and develop a series of 6-10 second shorts that each responded to a given brief that specified an overall topic and animation style of the given projects. The project culminated with the development of a longer animation piece over the course of a few weeks responding to the complex theme of Synaesthesia.
Overall development of the individual experiment pieces took me between a day and a day and a half to fully realise from concept to completion. This was my first series of attempts at animation and so proved a challenge at first, however as the project progressed I found myself picking up the new styles with greater ease.
In the end this project gave me a good opportunity to delve into a new skill set that can be easily adapted to many a project in the future. All motion design experiments and the Synaesthesia project can be found on my Vimeo account or on their individual pages as follows:
